Vlahutin: An independent judicial system, a prerequisite for a functioning economy

Romana Vlahutin

ata_maliTIRANA – The Head of the Delegation of European Union in Tirana, Ambassador Romana Vlahutin, stated that implementation of a fair and independent justice system is a prerequisite for a functional market economy, during the launch of the Business Environment Survey 2016 conducted by the Foreign Investors Association of Albania (FIAA) this Wednesday, ATA news agency reported.

“An independent, fair and accountable justice system is not only fundamental to the functioning of democracy but it is also the prerequisite of a functioning market economy,” said EU Ambassador Romana Vlahutin during the event.

“Just like any other key segment of the society, the business community needs to trust in institutions, needs stability and predictability. And in a way, the vetting process that has started symbolically goes beyond the justice system as this is a societal and an economic reform,” ATA quoted the EU diplomat.
