Thaçi visits Croatia: Confirmation of excellent relations

ZAGREB – President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi was received Thursday with the highest state honors by President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović where he was in an official bilateral visit. He also had meetings with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President of the Parliament Gordan Jandroković, the Office of President of Kosovo stated.

At the meeting with Grabar-Kitarović, Thaçi stated that Kosovo and Croatia continue to have excellent bilateral relations, expressing gratitude for Croatia’s continued support at the time of state building as well as now at the time of the consolidation of the state.

“I am happy that our governments are close to finalizing the Strategic Partnership Agreement between our two countries. This will pave the way not only for the deepening of cooperation, but also for the coordination of our actions in bilateral relations, within the regional and international developments”, stressed Thaçi.

He expressed gratitude for Croatia’s support for Kosovo in international forums, whether be it in NATO when it comes to the transformation of the Kosovo Security Force into the Armed Forces of Kosovo, either at the Brdo-Brione Summit or other international forums.

On the other hand Grabar-Kitarović said that Croatia will continue to support Kosovo in the international arena and the commitment to achieve lasting peace in the Balkan region.

After the meeting with Grabar-Kitarović he also had meetings with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and President of the Parliament Gordan Jandroković.

At the meeting with Prime Minister Plenković, Thaçi said that Kosovo and Croatia should work harder in the growth of trade exchanges and the cooperation in the field of education, technology, culture and sport

“The cooperation in the field of economy should be the priority of our two countries. The immediate concrete steps may be the opening of the Croatian Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo and the possibility of seasonal employment of Kosovars in Croatia”, said Thaçi.

Whereas, with President of the Parliament Gordan Jandroković, Thaçi discussed the possibility of strengthening the overall cooperation between the two countries.

“Croatia represents a model for the countries of the region in the implementation of the reforms which are the main criteria for the acceleration of the path of the Balkan states into the European Union”, stated Thaçi.
