TIRANA – An inspiring and constructive discussion took place today with Knut Fleckenstein at the round-table “After Trieste Summit: Albania’s achievements and challenges on its road to EU” organized by CDI Albania.

This event gathered high level civil officials from key Albanian institutions involved in the EU accession and in the Berlin Process, members of Parliament, Ambassadors of EU MS partners in the Berlin Process, RYCO, WBIF, Investment Council, think tanks and business representatives. MEP and EP Rapporteur for Albania Knut Fleckenstein underlined the importance of a successful reform implementation as the main condition for the swift opening of EU accession negotiations with Albania. The European Parliament remains a firm supporter of welcoming the Western Balkans in the EU.

The participants discussed on the Trieste Summit outcomes on connectivity, on regional economic cooperation, on local growth and convergence with EU, as well as and how they contribute to and interact with the reforms engaged in Albania. A main advantage of Berlin Process is its complementarity the EU accession by focusing on tangible results for the citizen.

The round-table is part of the Berlin Process Series an initiative implemented by Cooperation and Development Institute.
