PODGORICA – Control of Montenegro’s airspace will be conducted by NATO members Greece and Italy, said Minister of Defence Predrag Bošković.

He said that the process of signing technical agreements with these countries was underway.

It is up to us to protect the immediate airspace with helicopters, Minister added.

Bošković said that the draft law on confirmation of agreement between the Alliance members on legal position of their forces which guarantees them a special status in Montenegro was a condition and obligation arising from NATO membership.

“Special status is nothing new or extraordinary”, Bošković said, adding that all NATO members accepted this agreement.

Boskovic underlined that Montenegro Army was absolutely ready for NATO, but that further modernization is always necessary.
