BERLIN – German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said at a press conference with Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov in Berlin that Germany supports the agreement reached between Macedonia and Greece, which he considers a solution achieved through a common understanding that will bring change among the citizens.
He said that the EU and NATO decisions will be a very important signal and stressed that what Macedonia has achieved in meeting the criteria and the reform process really impresses and deserves recognition from the entire EU.
“This solution is good, we will support the process for joining the country in the EU. We have been impressed by the reform process that has been going on in Macedonia in recent years. The country has been showing results and should receive recognition from the entire European Union. We suggest that you show determination. I hope that decisions which will be made in the future in relation to NATO and the EU will be an important signal for the people of your country and will go in the direction of the European perspective, we do not want some other forces to realize their plans in your region”, Maas said.
