BRUSSELS – Spokesperson for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Maja Kocijančič stated that Serbia will be able to become EU member only when it meets all clearly defined criteria and continues its work on normalisation with Kosovo, Beta reported.
The statement comes after the interview President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić gave for Reuters. In the interview, he said Serbia would need clear guarantees it will become EU member in 2025 for any agreement with Pristina.
Referring to the this year’s Enlargement Strategy, Kocijančič explained that 2025 was only an indicative date, adding that “Serbia holds the key” for advancing accession process.
