EU calls for peace and transparency in Kosovo as election campaign officially starts

PRISTINA – The nine-day election campaign for Kosovo early election started today and will conclude on Friday, 4 October.

Heads of the EU Missions in Kosovo called for a peaceful, transparent and inclusive process in line with international standards in a joint statement on Tuesday, Gazeta Express reported.

EU Office in Kosovo stressed that the election represent an opportunity for the people of Kosovo to exercise their democratic right to vote and elect their leaders.

„The EU and OSCE have jointly supported the formation of an Assembly Ad Hoc Committee and Advisory Group on this matter. We invite all parties to take the efforts of the Committee seriously and step up its work after the elections in order to implement recommendations of the EU EUOM,” states the press release.

Around 1.94 million Kosovars will have the right to cast their vote in the parliamentary election set to be held on Sunday, October 6.
