BELGRADE -The snap parliamentary election will be held either on 18 or 25 October, stated Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. According to him, the exact date of the voting will be known “in a few days”.

“So, the parliamentary election in Serbia will be held, as things stand, either on 18 or on 25 October”, Vučić told Radio-television of Serbia last night.

He also claimed that “some people do not know how to calculate the possible date of the election”.

“Now you have a specific date, as I see that some people do not know how to calculate it”, he noted.

Asked to comment on a separate electoral lists of the coalition partners of the Serbian Progressive Party, specifically the Socialist Party of Serbia, Vučić stated that he “will not take away the right of everyone to run in the election”.

If the snap parliamentary election were to be held either on 18 or on 25 October 2026, as announced by Vučić, he should call it no later than 3 or 10 September, i.e. 45 prior to the vote, indicates FoNet. This follows from the legal rules, according to which from the day of the call to the day of the election, no less than 45 or more than 60 days may pass.

If early election is called, the President of the Republic shall call it simultaneously with the dissolution of the National Assembly.

Serbia has held five parliamentary elections since SNS came to power in 2012. Four of these votes were snap elections.
