Vučić: More substantial motivation needed

BRUSSELS – Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said in Brussels on Friday he had “heard a very strong commitment” from European Council President Donald Tusk that Serbia would become an EU member state once it fulfilled its obligations.

Speaking at a joint press conference after a meeting with Tusk, Vučić said he was pleased with the discussions but that it had not been possible to hear a specific date.

The perspective is there, which is good, but Serbia wants to get more substantial motivation, Vučić said.

Serbia is expected to complete the dialogue with Pristina and foreign policy and rule of law reforms, Vučić said, noting that Serbia was capable of completing the reforms but that completion of the dialogue depended on the other side.

Now it is time to speak with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, Vučić noted.
