SKOPJE – The 13th Conference of Committees for European Affairs/Integration of countries within the Stabilisation and Association Process of South-East Europe was held yesterday in Skopje and organised by the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia, Nikola Dimitrov addressed the panel dubbed “Western Balkans governed by the rule of law” and noted the importance of establishing the rule of law in Macedonia and the benefits of that process.
“We want to use the EU accession process to develop a true European democracy based on the rule of law. For this process to succeed, all stakeholders in the government need to take their share of responsibility,” said Dimitrov.
The participants welcomed the recently published EC Strategy and ascertained that it represents a clear sign of the readiness to secure a credible European perspective for the region. In this context they emphasised the importance of the result-oriented reform agenda as well as the need for a comprehensive social commitment to turn the European aspirations into reality.
