PODGORICA – Montenegrin Prime Minister Duško Marković welcomed the ratification of the State Border Agreement between Montenegro and Kosovo.

“We congratulate the parliamentary majority in Kosovo. This is a confirmation of our ability to solve important regional issues ourselves, not to seek mediation. This is good news for our relations, for Kosovo and the European perspective of the region. Kosovo fulfilled one of the key conditions for visa liberalisation. We hope that it will soon be a reality for the well-being of the citizens of Kosovo,” Marković said, as the Government Twitted on its official account.

The PM is pleased that Montenegro has contributed to the solution of this issue, with traditionally good cooperation between Montenegro and Kosovo, in the spirit of European values and the EC Strategy for the Western Balkans, as well as good neighbourly cooperation, which Montenegro implemented, as a responsible regional player and member of NATO.

The Kosovo Parliament ratified on Wednesday the demarcation agreement, which enabled the visa liberalisation process for Kosovo. The agreement on the demarcation of Montenegro and Kosovo was signed in Vienna in 2015.
