TIRANA – The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, during a conversation with Albanian students, said that the door of EU is open and it is up to the Albanian govt. to take the necessary steps forward in the country’s integration, ATA reports.
Time has come for Albania to take its steps forward down the path to EU, we are open and willing to kick off the accession negotiations. The Albanian leadership needs to take the right decisions on implementation of justice reform and show the same unanimity with which it went through parliament in July last year.
The message goes beyond this audience, Mogherini pointed out.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy also appealed to the opposition to go back to parliament to carry its political battle forward.
The leaders have the responsibility to act within the institutions. Political game needs to be played inside the field, not outside it, which means the debate should take place in parliament, which is the heart of democracy.
