TIRANA – Albaninan Prime Minister Edi Rama, accompanied by the chair of SP parliamentary group Gramoz Ruçi and the chair of parliamentary law committee Fatmir Xhafaj are holding a meeting on Monday with Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta in the venues of villa 30, it is reported by Albaninan news agency ATA.
The meeting is held in the run-up to the plenary session at 18:00, which is expected to pass the establishment and composition of ad-hoc committee of six members divided on a par (3+3) between the parliamentary majority and minority. This committee will conduct the verification of candidates selected by the People’s Ombudsman and International Monitoring Operation for the bodies responsible for the vetting of Albanian judges and prosecutors.
Before this meeting, parliament speaker Meta, in an official letter, appealed to the heads of parliamentary groups to present their proposals for members of adhoc committee before 16:00 Monday.
According to sources, the socialist parliamentary group which convened at around 13:00 has not taken any decision on the candidates yet.
Meanwhile the right-wing opposition has announced it will not be in parliament insisting on its demand for a technocrat govt. which will guarantee free and fair elections.
