BELGRADE – Maintaining good-neighbourly relations is the most important, and cooperation with everyone must be equal, European Commission spokesperson Maja Kocijančić told Serbian daily Blic in a comment on Albanian PM Edi Rama’s statement about a possible union between Albania and Kosovo, Tanjug reports.
“As recently also confirmed in the European Council, the Western Balkan region has a clear European perspective. To achieve that goal, we are cooperating with all partners in the region without deviating from the principles of reconciliation and regional cooperation,” the daily’s website quoted her as saying.
Any form of political influence is detrimental to strengthening of good-neighbourly relations, she noted.
Rama told the Brussels-based portal Politico on Tuesday a union between Albania and Kosovo could not be ruled out if EU membership prospects for the Western Balkans faded.
