PRISTINA – If the EU closes its door to Kosovo, “all Albanians in the region will live in a single, united country so that the integration into the European family may continue,” Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi has told Radio Free Europe, Tanjug reports.
Thaçi made the statement just a day after Albanian PM Edi Rama told the Brussels-based portal Politico on Tuesday a union between Albania and Kosovo could not be ruled out if EU membership prospects for the Western Balkans faded.
Declining to comment on “other people’s opinions”, Thaçi told the radio station that “at the moment, the EU has no vision for integration or enlargement in relation to Kosovo and the Western Balkans.”
“This tardiness, this delay and the lack of vision for the Western Balkans is, unfortunately, being used by ideologies and non-European countries that are not in the Euro-Atlantic spirit,” he said.
