TRIESTE – The European Investment Bank (EIB) is backing Serbia’s strategic goal of EU accession, EIB Vice President for Serbia Dario Scannapieco said during a meeting with Serbian PM Ana Brnabić in Trieste on Wednesday.

The EIB is also prepared to secure the funds required to encourage economic growth and productivity, with particular focus on infrastructure and development projects, he said.

Brnabic highlighted the significance of good cooperation with the EIB, in particular in ongoing and future infrastructure projects.

Kick-starting entrepreneurship and strengthening the start-up community is one of the priorities of the Serbian government, she said.

Delegations of the Serbian government and the EIB met at Western Balkans Six Summit in Trieste to discuss further cooperation, signing a third, 50 mln euro contract to rebuild four clinical centres in Serbia.
