Federal elections are being held today in Germany to elect the 598 members of the 19th Bundestag.
Polling stations are open from 8 am untill 6 pm, while the preliminary results are expected later this evening, or on Monday morning.
The new Bundestag will have to elect a Chancellor with an absolute majority of its members, who will in turn form a new government.
