BRUSSELS – The EU regrets the delay in implementation of an agreement on the judiciary between Belgrade and Pristina, European Commission spokesperson Maja Kocijančič said Tuesday, adding the delay was due to a request from Belgrade.

She pointed to a need for the Brussels agreement on the judiciary to be implemented as soon as possible due to the fact that implementation of the agreement on normalisation of relations between the two sides is closely tied to European integration.

Pristina has fulfilled all obligations associated with implementing the agreement from the dialogue – a soonest possible integration of judicial staff and implementation of the agreement on the judiciary is important as it will contribute to respect of rule of law in Kosovo, in particular in the Mitrovica region, Kocijančič said after the implementation deadline had expired Tuesday.
