PRISTINA – Spokeswoman for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Maja Kocijančič said that Belgrade and Pristina must urgently return to the negotiating table and that EU member states, as well as the United States, once again urge Pristina to abolish tariffs on goods from Serbia.

Finishing the process of normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina is urgent because “the current situation not only stimulates insecurity, it also means giving up the opportunity,” Kocijančič said for Koha.

She reminded that tariffs are the reason for the blockade of the dialogue and stressed that “there is no alternative to an immediate continuation of the dialogue between the parties.”

When asked what is the position of Federica Mogherini when it comes to Paris summit, Kocijančič said that the recent meeting in Berlin, as well as the one announced in Paris, could present a good opportunity for the region.

She added that Federica Mogherini welcomes every effort to help EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Kocijančič says that Serbia also needs to do its part, in order to open the way for the dialogue.

She also stated that reaching a comprehensive legally binding agreement on full normalisation of relations would be the best way for the region to feel the benefits from this reconciliation.
