New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis takes over as Prime Minister of Greece

ATHENS – A day after early parliamentary elections on Sunday, leader of the centre-right New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis has taken over the position of the Prime Minister of Greece from Syriza’s Alexis Tsipras, Reuters reports. European Council now has an additional EPP member, while the United European Left has lost its only representative. According to the latest election results, ND has won 40% of the vote, while Syriza has finished the race with 32%.
