BRUSSELS – Hungarian nominee for the Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Laszlo Trócsányi, will not now go forward to hearings at the European Parliament, EUobserver reports. The Legal Affairs Committee of the European Parliament (JURI) decided, after a vote, that there is not enough clarity on his potential conflicts of interest and discrepancies in property statements, rejecting his nomination. It is now down to president Ursula von der Leyen if she wants the country to nominate a new candidate. The same decision was made with regards to Romanian candidate Rovana Plumb.
