BRUSSELS – European Policy Centre in Brussels and the European Western Balkans portal are jointly organising an online policy dialogue, “Elections in Serbia: Students challenge Vučić in the polls after two years of protests”, on 14 October.
The event will take place from 15:00 to 16:00. The participants can register here.
This event will set the scene ahead of the vote by outlining the political situation, presenting the candidates and the developments in the campaign, and shedding light on eventual irregularities. It will also discuss post-election prospects and their implications for Serbia’s EU path.
The snap parliamentary election in Serbia will take place on 25 October, following two years of uninterrupted civic protests led by students. Now, students are moving the protests to the ballot box with the aim of ending 14 years of Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) rule. Aleksandar Vučić resigned as President on 27 September 2026 and will run for prime minister for the SNS.
The speakers at the event will be Aleksandar Ivković, news editor of EWB and editor of Serbia Elects, Bojana Selaković, coordinator of the National Convention on the EU in Serbia, and Raša Nedeljkov, program director of CRTA, an election watchdog.
