BRUSSELS – The EU is working to determine the date for a new meeting of Serbian and Kosovo Presidents Aleksandar Vučić and Hashim Thaçi, and it is expected that the meeting should take place by the end of June, Tanjug learns in Brussels.

“The new round will certainly not be held on June 27 due to the trip of EU Foreign Minister, Federica Mogherini,” Tanjug sources in Brussels confirmed.

This denies the allegations made by the Kosovo media that the continuation of the dialogue was scheduled for June 27, and that calls have already been made to both parties in the dialogue.

Diplomatic sources in Brussels say the European External Action Service is currently working to align the terms for a new round of Belgrade-Priština dialogue at the highest political level.

It is noteworthy that this is not easy, because of the duties of the two presidents, as well as the head of EU diplomacy Federica Mogherini, who mediates in their dialogue.

In the diplomatic sources close to the office of Federica Mogherini it is also noted that the High Representative will be in Luxembourg on June 25, where she will be chairperson of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, and that she will participate at the EU leaders’ summit on June 28 and 29.

Whatever date they agree upon, the focus of the meeting between Vučić and Thaçi will be primarily on the elements of the new phase of dialogue in order to achieve a comprehensive normalization of relations and a legally binding agreement, while the implementation of the agreements reached so far will be in second place, Tanjug learns in Brussels.

The European External Action Service is in touch with both sides regarding the continuation of the technical part of the dialogue.

Priština has canceled its participation in the previous round of technical dialogue, which was scheduled for June 7, due to dissatisfaction with the agenda on preparing the draft of Community of Serb Municipalities.

In Brussels, they could not confirm whether due to this Priština attitude, the technical dialogue agenda would change, but they said that they would discuss “all the agreements that Belgrade or Pristina did not meet.”

At this moment, there is no announcement that the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Priština could be held before the dialogue on high political level.
