SKOPJE – The EU has reopened the accession process for Western Balkan countries and a strategy for the region will be presented in February, European Commissioner for Mobility and Transport Violeta Bulc said Monday at the Skopje Summit100 of business leaders from southeast Europe.

The region’s membership perspective is more tangible than ever, she said.

She said the EU would next February have a strategy that would offer additional clarification and motivation to Western Balkan countries to get involved in reforms even more dynamically.

EC President Jean-Claude Juncker has announced the EU was planning to work out a successful strategy for Serbia and Montenegro with a perspective of EU accession in 2025.

Bulc said the EU was now out of the crisis and that all its member states had positive GDP trends.

The EU is currently the world’s largest economy, she said.
