Constitutional Affairs Committee adopts Government’s proposal for constitutional changes

SKOPJE – With 10 votes in favour and 7 against, the Constitutional Affairs Committee adopted a proposal by the Government to endorse the amendments of the Constitution under the Prespa Agreement. Ten MPs from the parliamentary majority led by SDSM voted in favour, while 7 MPs from VMRO-DPMNE voted against. None abstained. On Monday, the government’s proposal will be on the agenda of a plenary session in Parliament where, after a debate of a maximum of ten days, it should be voted by a two-thirds majority of the total number of lawmakers.
