ROME – On the occasion of the forthcoming session of the European Council, Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi stated Wednesday that Europe needs to open up to the Balkans, including Serbia, Montenegro and Albania.
The center of Europe is its periphery, and Europe’s heart is on its borders, the map of Europe has greater importance on its borders, Renzi said at the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, the Italian embassy in Serbia reported citing Italian media.
We have to open up to the Balkans (Serbia, Albania, Montenegro) and think about Turkey and what is happening in that country, he said ahead of the European Council meeting that will take place on October 15-16.
