KRANJ – Serbian Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dačić said Saturday at the Summit of presidents of the Brdo-Brioni Process that Serbia is aware of the numerous challenges that the EU is facing, but that they must not be an excuse for delaying or slowing down the process of European integration, Serbian Government stated.

Dačić pointed out that EU membership remains for Serbia one of the highest foreign policy priorities and we do our best that the reforms which we implement in line with the EU agenda bring good results.

However, he warned, the fact that despite all the efforts that we have been making for years we have so far opened only eight and temporarily closed two chapters, is not encouraging, because if this pace continues, we will need a decade to just open all negotiation chapters.

Serbia is ready to work more intensively inside the region on the promotion of regional integration, we will continue to do everything in our power to preserve regional stability, but these processes must not be a substitute for the process of European integration, but should rather contribute to accelerating the dynamics of our journey towards the EU, Dačić stated.
