TRIESTE – The EU is preparing the Western Balkan countries for the day when they will become a part of the EU’s single economic system, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn said in Trieste on Wednesday, adding that an additional 220 mln euros had been secured for countries of the region.
The funds will go to around 6,000 companies in the region, Hahn said at a business forum held as part of the Western Balkans Six Summit in Trieste.
We signed an agreement whereby, in the period to come, the EU will secure 220 mln euros for 6,000 companies that will thus gain access to new funding, Hahn said.
This is not a beginning of something new but another step on a long road of activities in this field of integration of the Western Balkans, he said.
