PRISTINA – An oath-taking ceremony for 42 Kosovo Serb judges and 14 prosecutors did not take place on Tuesday after they failed to turn up at the office of Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi.
The ceremony had been scheduled as part of the implementation of a Brussels agreement on the judiciary.
Thaçi’s office said the judges and the prosecutors had failed to turn up for the ceremony following a ban by Belgrade that it noted was aimed at thwarting their integration into Kosovo’s judicial system.
This is another failure of the European Union as the facilitator in the process of implementing the agreement on the judiciary, the office said.
