BRUSSELS – Prime Minister of Macedonia Zoran Zaev, speaking to the business representatives in the city of Bitola yesterday, emphasised economic benefits of accepting Agreement with Greece on the upcoming referendum.
“I recommend that Bitola citizens focus on conquering the Greek market, which is an excellent market. We, as a country, I believe will reap the benefits from the deal with Greece, as it’s a fair solution with political impact,” Zaev explained, reports EURACTIV.
Articles 13 and 14 of the Agreement cover future economic cooperation between Greece and (North) Macedonia. “Particular emphasis shall be placed on strengthening, enhancement and deepening of bilateral cooperation on agriculture, energy, environment, industry, infrastructure, investments, tourism, trade and transport”, section 14.1 reads.
Other sections concern the issues such as mutual investments, freedom of movement of people and goods, modernization of border crossing and tourist exchange.
Article 13 secures the implementation of the UN Conventions on the Law of the Sea, as far as applicable concerning the fact that Macedonia is a landlocked country.
The parties are also, according to the section 14.9, obliged to form a Joint Ministerial Committee in order to attain the best possible cooperation in the above mentioned sectors. JMC will convene at least once a year.
