Council of the EU: Support to BiH’s unity and European perspective

LUXEMBOURG – Council of the European Union urged all leaders of Bosnia and Herzegovina to constructively engage in governemnt formation on all levels following the elections.

“The Council reiterated its expectations from BiH authorities to prioritise further steps in reforms necessary for European integrations, in order to secure full and efficient implementation of the Reform Agenda”, statement from the Luxembourg meeting reads.

The text notes unequivocal support of the Council towards European perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a united and sovereign country.

The Council confirmed readiness to continue with the operation “Althea” with the executive military mandate in order to provide BiH authorities with secure environment, in accordance with the renewed UN mandate.

The Council also repeated its appeal to the authorities to increase the speed of dealing with issues of removing the surplus of ammunition, weapons and explosive devices, as well as demining and other important issues.
