PRISTINA – The newly-formed negotiating team of Kosovo will meet with the officials of European External Action Service on 8 January, N1 reported. EU High Representative Federica Mogherini will not be present.

The subject of the meeting is still unknown, but Koha Ditore reported that the 100% tariffs on Serbian goods will be in focus. Other media outlets in Kosovo have stated that the issue of missing persons will also be discussed.

The negotiating team was formed in the Assembly of Kosovo on 16 December and it is lead by Deputy Prime Minister Fatmir Limaj and member of the opposition and Pristina’s mayor Spend Ahmeti. Members of the Democratic League of Kosovo and Vetëvendosje refused to participate.

However, the EU still regards the country’s President Hashim Thaçi as the main negotiator. It has nevertheless confirmed a positive role negotiating team could play in the course of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue.
