ATHENS – Defense minister Panos Kammenos, leader of the Independent Greeks Party, resigned today following Macedonia’s adoption of constitutional amendments changing the name of the country.
“The issue of Macedonia does not allow me not to sacrifice the office…I revoke my support for the government. The Independent Greeks are leaving the government,” he told reporters, Kathimerini reported.
The ruling coalition is now left with 145 out of 300 parliamentary seats.
