TIRANA – The Electoral College ruled on Monday against President Meta’s decree to cancel the local elections, due to take place on June 30. According to this decision, the President couldn’t cancel the election date without announcing another date fore the elections. “Decision of the Electoral College has been taken under pressure,” said the head of state, Ilir Meta, adding that the country’s Constitutional Court is the only one that can decide on his decision, reports Radio Tirana International. The opposition leader, Lulzim Basha, expressed his conviction that there will be no elections today, after meeting with US charge d’affairs.
