Bregu: Judicial reform main condition to start Albanian EU accession talks

ata_maliTIRANA – The main Albanian opposition Democratic Party MP Majlinda Bregu acknowledged this Tuesday that Albania will need to start implementing recently adopted judicial reform before it can start EU accession talks.

Addressing a joint meeting of the National Council for European Integration, the Delegation of the European Union to Albania, and the European Integration Committee of the Parliament, Bregu stated that all political parties should work together to advance the country’s European integration process, saying reform of the judiciary is the main condition to start accession talks.

“This process could prove successful only through the involvement, commitment and capacity building of all stakeholders. I would like to renew my call on the government to consult with the National Council for European Integration, the highest consultative body for European Integration, on all strategic documents and steps that are intended to be undertaken in order to address the priorities for the opening of accession negotiations,” Bregu said.
