VMRO-DPMNE and DUI do not agree on the "desorosoization process"

meta_maliSKOPJE – DUI doesn’t agree with its current coalition partner VMRO-DPMNE when it comes to the process of “desorosoization” that was announced by VMRO-DPMNE’s leader Nikola Gruevski, states news agency “Meta”.

DUI has announced for “Alsat M” TV that they have a good cooperation with the non-government sector and with the “Open Society” foundation. Not addressing VMRO-DPMNE directly, members of DUI said that the state organs should deal with possible suspicions regarding NGOs’ financing and not with their activities.

“Non-Government organizations should have the opportunity to work freely. The same refers to the “Open Society.” The state organs should and will react only if there is a suspicion regarding the sources of finance or if their activity is opposed to the law. DUI will continue to have a proper cooperation with the NGOs in the country,” said DUI to “Meta”.

When asked what would their stance be if VMRO-DPMNE during the negotiations will ask to take joint measures during the “desorosoization” of Macedonia, DUI have said that they don’t have any information about which NGO or medium is with whom and who is financing them.

The term “desorosoization” was first mentioned by Gruevski during the so-called “announcement” at the protest in front of the State Election Commission on the 17th of December, stating that: “We will fight for desorosoization of the Republic of Macedonia and for strengthening an independent civic sector that will not succumb to any control. We shall commence to regulating the area of foundations’ and NGOs’ financing as is done by the world’s most advanced democracies”.
