Meta appeals Macedonian political parties for calm; anti-Albanian rhetoric affects harmony

TIRANA – The Speaker of the Albanian Parliament, Ilir Meta reacted to the political situation in Macedonia where President of the Republic of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov refused to give the mandate to Zoran Zaev’s new government pretending that Albanian political platform is drawn up by another country, via a statement on Thursday.

Speaker of Parliament Meta expressed his concern of the political situation in Macedonia and encouraged all political forces in the neighbouring country to appeal for calm and to show responsibility and constructiveness.

“Anti-Albanian nationalistic rhetoric affects ethnic harmony and coexistence as a guarantee for the country’s stability. I hope that all institutional and political actors demonstrate commitment to Macedonia’s democratic progress and Euro-Atlantic membership,” stated SP Meta.
