Thaçi meets with US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence

PRISTINA – The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, received today the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defence of the USA, Laura Cooper, with whom he discussed about the cooperation between Kosovo and the USA in the security sector.

Thaçi stated that Kosovo is grateful for the support of the United States for Kosovo, especially for the cooperation with the KSF.

He added that the KSF has built its capacities and is now a professional and inclusive force.

“We are working, coordinated with international partners, to meet all the criteria for the transformation of the Security Force into the Armed Forces”, said President Thaçi.

“It is our desire is for the transformation to take place with political consensus and through constitutional changes”, stated President Thaçi and added that nevertheless “this process can not last endlessly”.

Deputy Assistant Secretary, Laura Cooper, said that the United States will continue to support Kosovo in all areas.

President Thaçi added that the security situation in Kosovo is very good and Kosovo remains committed to peace and stability in the region.

“We are cultivating domestic and regional dialogue, especially with Serbia”, stated Thaçi.
