BRUSSELS – Spokeperson of the European Commission Maja Kocijančič said in the light of the recent events held during the weekend in Belgrade, that citizen’s right to take part in peaceful demonstration remains core democratic value, adding it should be respected. As she explained the protest should remain peaceful in line with the law like they used to be before this weekend.

According to her calmness and restraint are needed.

“Parliament is the place where the debate and discussion should be held in order to find mutual solutions and responses towards the fear among the public. Structural dialogue with civil sector is the key”, Kocijančič said.
