PODGORICA – Montenegro is the next EU member, thinks Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Srđan Darmanović and adds that he expects a positive report from European Commission about the progress towards EU path.

There is no dispute and Montenegro is the absolute leader in the region when it comes to European integration, Vijesti reports.

“We do not compete with others, on the contrary, we support our neighbours in their European aspirations, but it is clear that Montenegro is the next EU member”, Darmanović explains and adds that it is expected that Montenegro opens the last chapter during this year.

Minister thinks it is important that Montenegro starts to close chapters.

“At the moment we can offer EU at least five or six chapters which could be closed, underlines Darmanović.

Government has a clear direction and knows exactly where Montenegro is going to. It would culminate with its EU membership when the time comes for it”, Minister concludes.
