SARAJEVO – New Head of EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative in BiH, Johan Sattler, said today at his first press conference after taking the office, that BiH needs to have all levels of government in place as soon as possible, N1 reports.

Sattler stressed that nobody understands that it takes a year or longer to form governments at all levels.

One of the first things he expects to see from BiH institutions is the development of an action plan for the implementation of the measures and recommendations of the Opinion of the European Commission.

“The Opinion sets out the famous 14 key priorities that the country needs to address in order to be recommended for the opening of accession negotiations,” Sattler said. He mentioned the three opinion key priorities: rule of law, socio-economic issues and public administration reform.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs to implement comprehensive economic reforms, because its citizens want to have quality education, adequate healthcare, an impartial judiciary and greater job opportunities.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has it in its own hands to join the European Union. Me and my team will be there to assist and do everything we can, to help you move forward”, Sattler concluded.
