SKOPJE – We need to have in mind that Serbia and Kosovo, our neighbours, have different positions when it comes to Kosovo’s entry into UNESCO said Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia Nikola Dimitrov, adding that Macedonia is committed to promoting good neighbourly relations.

Dimitrov pointed out that Macedonia is not in a position to have some major role when it comes to Kosovo’s UNESCO membership.

Today, Serbia’s Foreign Minister, Ivica Dačić said that Serbia’s decision to withdraw its staff from the embassy in Macedonia actually sends a message to Skopje.

“Serbia wants to calm the new situation with Macedonia, which is not based on assumptions, but on unambiguously established facts that speak of an enforced offensive action towards Serbia,” said Dačić for Pink Television.

Serbia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs announced that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will talk to the Macedonian Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev and that he will be in touch with his counterpart, Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov.

Commenting on the alleged intelligence activities against Serbia, Dimitrov said that Macedonia is waiting for official information from Belgrade about such claims because they do not want to get into speculations.

He said the new government’s basic approach is solving, not creating problems.

According to Dimitrov, if there are misunderstandings, they should be resolved through a direct conversation.

“On Sunday, immediately after receiving the note, I called Dačić, but I did not get through to him. Yesterday, through the Macedonian embassy in Belgrade, we asked for a telephone conversation that is likely to happen tomorrow”, said Dimitrov.
