SKOPJE – UN Special Envoy for the naming dispute between Greece and Macedonia Matthew Nimetz warned today that a failure of Prespa Agreement would have dangerous consequences for both sides, and that a new agreement would require years, Kathemirini reports.

“If the Agreement does not come into force, the consequences would be deep and both sides could change their minds over many things that have been agreed. I can predict many scenarios, and some of them are very bad”, Nimetz said.

He reminded that the Prespa Agreement is a result of the efforts that lasted for a quarter of a century and that a new agreement would be negotiated in completely different circumstances.

The Agreement has been ratified by the Macedonian Parliament, while the process in Greece is currently ongoing.
