BELGRADE – Director General for Enlargement at the European Commission Christian Danielsson commended Thursday the Serbian government at a meeting with Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic for responsible behavior during the migrant crisis and announced assistance from the EU.

Danielsson stressed that the EU will allocate in the short term the first EUR 10 million for crisis management, in order to help Serbia, particularly in winter time, the Serbian government’s media relations office issued in a statement.

Vucic informed Danielsson about the situation in Serbia and presented the data on the number of registered migrants that passed through the country in the past five months.

The prime minister met with the EU official in Belgrade, after returning from Strasbourg. The two discussed regional cooperation, Serbia’s EU integration and Belgrade-Pristina talks as well.

Danielsson also commended the progress made in dialogue with Pristina, the statement reads.
