Statement by European Parliament mediators Mr Vajgl, Mr Kukan and Mr Fleckenstein on the preparations for early parliamentary elections on 11 December

SKOPJE – We came today on behalf of the European Parliament to get an update on the preparations for the early parliamentary elections that will take place on 11 December.

We are pleased that the four main political parties collectively consider that their main commitments have been respected to allow the citizens of this country to take part in elections on 11 December.

As such, we encourage all concerned to ensure that these elections take place under the conditions necessary for the citizens of this country to exercise their democratic right on Election Day. We believe the results of credible elections have to be accepted as the citizens’ mandate to the new government which should focus on implementing the necessary reforms to put the country back on its Euro-Atlantic integration path.

The European Parliament will continue to monitor preparations for the elections including on Election Day with an EP Election observation delegation.
