BRUSSELS – The situation in the Western Balkans is tense with challenges on an internal, regional and global plan, and what is necessary is a strong and convincing support from the European Union for the integration of that region, said today in Brussels the EU’s High Representative, Federica Mogherini, Meta reports.
Before the session of the EU’s ministers of foreign affairs and defense, Mogherini said that she will inform the diplomacy chiefs about her visit of the Western Balkans and after that, the EU’s leaders will be informed that “the situation there is exposed to challenges to an internal plan, regionally and globally.”
She stressed that the region has the ability and strength within itself to retain and that she expects that today, the ministers and the EU’s leaders as well to give a clear and strong determination towards the Western Balkans regarding convincing perspectives for a European integration.
Last week, Mogherini was having visits of Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania and Bosnia and Hercegovina, and the increase of the tension in the Western Balkans will be a subject at the meeting of EU’s leaders that will be held on the 9th and the 10th of March in Brussels.
