At the end of the Civil Society Forum, the participants of the forum presented joint statement on the recent events in Macedonia.

The statement is read by Blazhen Maleski, from the Reactor – Research in Action.

“Regarding the situation of civil society in Macedonia, we would like to raise our deep concerns about the ongoing witch-hunt on members of the civil society organizations,” reads the statement.

“Hindering civil society organizations to fully operate only weakens Macedonia’s democratic capacity. Civil society organizations are an integral part of democratic procedures and their rights to voice opinions and operate freely should be respected,” it is stated.

“In that regards, the civil society forum Tirana wants to send their support to the civil society organizations in Macedonia and to the whole region of the western Balkan,” it is concluded.
