BELGRADE – Peace is a prerequisite for development, and an unstable Balkans and a technologically and economically undeveloped region burdened by stereotypes is not a solution, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the Belgrade Security Forum Friday.
He said he was less optimistic about this than last year, when, as he noted, he had not been very optimistic either.
But without a doubt Serbia will do everything to maintain regional peace, he said.
“I am not ashamed to admit – we are a part of the problem. From time to time, we do not react in the way we should, we underestimate difficulties, we overreact, but at the same time we have problems that spill over from Europe and the world.”
There is one thing we have managed to achieve in terms of stability, especially as Belgrade-Pristina ties are concerned: we had “no dead”, but that is “not enough”, he said.
