BELGRADE – Regional policy hackathons #BalkanConnect2018 continued this weekend in Belgrade. For two days, teams were designing digital platforms that should affect some of the most serious problems that Balkan citizens face.

Participants presented several effective digital tools as responses to challenges in environmental protection and the fight against fake news. The team “Your surplus, our cost” won. They presented a website that helps in solving the problem of disposal of used furniture and household appliances. “Greenup” was another team dealing with environment issues through its interactive Dataaction platform. One of the solutions tackling media literacy was Fakebook – an interactive platform for creating reliable news.

The international jury evaluating the ideas gathered: Iskren Krusteff (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Bulgaria), Marko Rakar (MRAK Services Ltd.) and Milan Stančević (HTEC Group). Policy hackathons #BalkanConnect2018 will be continued on March 8th and 9th in Skopje.
