BRUSSELS – The European Commission suggested the opening the negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania for the second time this year. The Commission published the 2019 Enlargement Package today which contains reports with detailed assessment of the state of play in each candidate country and potential candidate, what has been achieved over the last year, and sets out guidelines on reform priorities. The European Commissioner Johannes Hahn said the European Commission has recommended that the EU open membership talks with North Macedonia and Albania, but has not set a date for them to start, which will be left for the European Council to decide in June.
